The Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday, 8 November 2025, conducted an Inter-Company Obstacle Crossing Competition for recruits of the 89 Regular Intake at the Depot’s Obstacle Ground.
The event, a major highlight of the recruits’ training programme, was aimed at building teamwork, resilience, endurance, and mental toughness among the trainees while testing their ability to operate effectively under pressure.

Flagging off the competition, the Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Buhari Madaki, said the exercise was designed to simulate real-life combat conditions and strengthen the recruits’ courage, determination, and unity in the face of challenges.
He commended the recruits for their enthusiasm, perseverance, and teamwork, noting that such activities are critical in shaping the character and competence of future soldiers.
“This competition is a crucial part of your training, preparing you for the rigours of combat and the challenges of life as soldiers,” Brigadier General Madaki said. “You must continue to imbibe the spirit of teamwork, courage, and resilience — the hallmark of a professional soldier.”

The Commandant also praised the officers and instructors for their dedication to duty and professionalism, reaffirming that the Depot remains committed to producing disciplined, combat-ready soldiers who are physically fit, mentally alert, and ready to defend the nation with honour and distinction.
The obstacle crossing exercise forms part of the final phase of military training at the Depot, where recruits are assessed on endurance, speed, coordination, and problem-solving under stressful conditions.
