TRADOC Commander tasks Army promotion examination panel to uphold integrity

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Peter Malla, has warned members of the Examination Panel for the Year 2026 Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE) to shun any act capable of undermining the credibility of the exercise.

Major General Malla gave the charge on Sunday, 1 February 2026, while flagging off activities for the promotion examination in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the TRADOC Commander urged panel members and other stakeholders to discharge their duties with the highest level of integrity, professionalism and objectivity. He noted that the credibility of the examination depends largely on their conduct.

He emphasized the need for examination requirements to reflect the current security challenges confronting Nigerian Army troops on the frontline. According to him, questions and assessments must be practical and in line with contemporary operational realities.

Major General Malla further directed members of the panel to adhere strictly to the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations Revised 2022, particularly in the areas of examination setting, conduct, assessment and security.

The TRADOC Commander also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for his unwavering support toward the successful conduct of the exercise, describing the support as instrumental to the smooth commencement of the examination and the assembly of personnel in Abeokuta.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Goodwin Nwamba, who spoke on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, welcomed the Examination President, officials from the Department of Army Training, TRADOC NA, observers and panel members to Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta.

Brigadier General Nwamba stressed the importance of the promotion examination and urged the panel to develop practical and innovative problem-solving questions. He assured participants that adequate security and administrative arrangements had been put in place to ensure a conducive environment for the exercise.

According to organisers, activities lined up for the LCPPE 2026 include the setting of examination requirements, harmonization of directing staff solutions, conduct of practical examinations, assessment of candidates and eventual announcement of results in line with existing Nigerian Army regulations.
