The Nigerian Army has organised a five-day Operation training on Operation Planning Cadre for personnel of the 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasararawa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event held on Monday in Doma.

Declaring the training open, Maj.-Gen. Hilary Nzan, the Commander of the special forces, said that the training aimed at building the capacity of the personnel toward tackling insurgency, terrorism and other forms of insecurity in the country.

Nzan added that the training would avail the field officers the opportunity to learn more on the rudiments of operations toward supporting and executing strategic plans.

The commander further said the training was aimed at equipping the personnel with necessary techniques to address the myriad of security challenges bedeviling the country.

”This training, an annual exercise is basically for young officers.

“It is in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) command philosophy, which is to transform the Nigerian army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force toward achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.

“The modules of the cadre are carefully designed to train and equip the officers with relevant operations planning essentials toward the achieving our goals and objectives,” he said.

The commander said that the Nigerian army would not relent in its quest toward defeating any threat to national security and the territorial integrity.

He called on the participants to take advantage of the training to understand the dynamics of proper synergy, collaboration and sound coordination of operations with other security agencies.

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Adams Audu, Commandant, Nigerian School of Military Engineering, Makurdi, said that the operation planning cadre, was designed to enhance the middle cadre officers with the current rudiments of operational acts and procedures.

He explained that the army would collaborate with other security agencies and key stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in all parts of the country.

He added that the army was currently at the forefront fighting insurgency, banditry, farmer-herder conflicts, kidnapping, militancy, among several other security challenges bedeviling the corporate existence of Nigeria.

“These unscrupulous elements have deployed different methods and tactics in a bid to frustrate the successes recorded by the Nigeria army in its operations.

“To this end, all personnel must possess the requisite capacity and competence to effectively tackle these challenges through deliberate understanding and deployment of principles and planning procedures for the conduct of operations,” he said.

According to him, the training seeks to enhance the capacity and broaden the knowledge of participants on operational planning, processes, and maneuvering approaches to warfare.
