A total of 21 officers and men of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have received medals of honour for gallantry in the fight against terrorism in Yobe.
The gallant officers were decorated with the medals on Tuesday in Damaturu by Maj.-Gen. Lander Saraso, the Commander, Sector 2 North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).
Saraso, who was represented by Umar Bawa, the NSCDC Assistant Commandant in Yobe, said that those honoured had contributed immensely to the fight against insurgency.
The OPHK commander said the NSCDC personnel had provided credible and timely intelligence which helped in foiling attacks by Boko Haram elements.
He added that the officers performed wonderfully and displayed high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Saraso also decorated the NSCDC State Commandant, Sa’idu Aliyu with meritorious service medal for providing conducive atmosphere and logistics for officers and men of the command.
Also decorated was ASC Bala Garba, the Spokesperson of the command for creating positive image of the command.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, SC Haruna Dawaki, the Arms Squad Commander, thanked the Theater Commander for recognising their contributions to the fight against insurgency in the state. (NAN)
