The Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria Sune Krogstrup has commended the Nigerian Navy for ensuring security at the Gulf of Guinea.

Krogstrup spoke during a visit to the naval headquarters in Abuja explaining that the security of the Gulf of Guinea is important to Denmark, especially as vessels from the Denmark traverses the area.

The Ambassador stated that Denmark has one of the largest commercial shipping lines in the world and depends heavily on security in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG) for transit of commercial vessels.

He praised the Nigerian Navy  for keeping the GoG sea lanes safe.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla while responding noted that the Nigerian Navy  is poised to continue her lead role in maritime safety of the GoG. Both the NN and Denmark authorities agreed on the need to sustain good international relations under existing maritime security architecture. The visit ended with the CNS giving the Ambassador a commemorative plaque and a photo-session.
