The Prayer and Support for Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State after spending 56 days in captivity.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the group described the operation as a major victory against criminality, attributing its success to effective inter-agency collaboration, professionalism and the collective support of local hunters, community vigilantes and patriotic Nigerians.
PSNAFSA particularly praised the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (SBS), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Panthers and the tactical team of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), describing them as among the country’s most highly trained special operations units.
According to the group, the coordinated operation demonstrated the growing effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture and the ability of security agencies to deliver results when they work together toward a common objective.
“The safe return of the pupils and teachers is a remarkable achievement that reflects the power of synergy, resilience, professionalism and the collective determination to protect innocent lives,” the statement said.
The organisation noted that the successful rescue had brought relief and renewed hope to the victims’ families and Nigerians who had closely followed the incident.
It also described the operation as a testament to the courage, sacrifice and commitment of members of the Armed Forces and other security personnel who continue to risk their lives in defence of the nation’s territorial integrity and the safety of citizens.
The group further acknowledged the contributions of local hunters, community vigilantes and residents, saying their vigilance, credible intelligence and cooperation played a vital role in the operation’s success.
According to PSNAFSA, the rescue reinforces the importance of strong collaboration between security agencies and local communities in addressing the country’s security challenges.
While celebrating the successful operation, the group expressed sadness over the death of one of the teachers during the incident and prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul as well as comfort for the bereaved family, colleagues and the school community.
The organisation urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces, the Police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, remaining vigilant and offering prayers for personnel serving on the front lines.
It also called on the Federal Government to sustain investment in the security sector through the provision of modern equipment, improved logistics, actionable intelligence and enhanced welfare packages to enable security personnel respond more effectively to evolving threats.
PSNAFSA expressed optimism that Nigerians still being held captive across the country would regain their freedom and encouraged security agencies to sustain ongoing operations until all hostages are rescued, criminal networks dismantled and communities restored to safety.
The statement concluded with prayers for divine protection, wisdom and success for members of the Armed Forces, the Police and other security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
