The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to strengthening security and supporting sustainable development in Taraba State.
Aneke made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja.

The CAS described the visit as a significant step toward enhancing collaboration between civil authorities and the Armed Forces in tackling evolving security challenges. He commended the governor for his proactive leadership in promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic development in the state, noting that Taraba’s strategic location necessitates sustained and coordinated security efforts.
He assured the governor of the NAF’s continued operational support through precision air operations, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, as well as logistical assistance to ground forces aimed at protecting lives and property.
Aneke reiterated the Air Force’s constitutional mandate to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and provide support to civil authorities, adding that ongoing joint operations within and around Taraba State demonstrate the Service’s resolve to sustain stability and strengthen national security.
He also stressed the need for enhanced cooperation in intelligence sharing, coordinated operational planning, and community engagement to achieve lasting peace while maintaining professionalism and respect for human rights.

In his response, Governor Kefas expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Air Force’s contributions to security in Taraba State, noting that the effective deployment of airpower and improved aerial surveillance have significantly boosted operational outcomes.
He added that the efforts of the NAF have strengthened public confidence and helped position Taraba as one of the safest states in Northern Nigeria.
The governor assured the Air Force of his administration’s continued support for security agencies and commitment to strengthening civil-military relations to drive investment, development, and social stability.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic collaboration to ensure lasting peace, improved security, and inclusive growth in Taraba State and across Nigeria.
