The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has assured Nigerians of continued enhancement in peace and stability across all operational theatres in the country.

Lagbaja made this declaration during the graduation ceremony of 545 Army personnel participating in Exercise Restore Hope VI at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State on Friday.

Highlighting the significance of Exercise Restore Hope, Lagbaja emphasized its role in providing the Nigerian Army with a vital platform for mission-oriented training, ultimately bolstering the combat readiness of troops. He underscored combat readiness as a cornerstone within the operational effectiveness framework of his command philosophy.

Lagbaja reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining Exercise Restore Hope, citing its proven effectiveness in addressing operational gaps through focused and adaptive training methodologies. He praised the initiative for its unique post-Depot training model, which integrates young soldiers with experienced command and control elements, enhancing their professionalism and battle readiness.

Since its inception in July 2021, Exercise Restore Hope has trained a total of 3,633 Nigerian Army personnel, including the 545 graduands from the recent ceremony. Lagbaja urged the graduates to leverage the skills and knowledge acquired during the exercise, emphasizing the importance of operational success and the need to justify the investment in training through outstanding performance in the field.

Expressing gratitude, Lagbaja extended thanks to President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, and the Chief of Defence Staff for their unwavering support in building the capacity of the Nigerian Army to fulfill its constitutional mandates.

The event witnessed a display of battle readiness and a demonstration of firepower, culminating in the inauguration of a 600-seat dining hall at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery.

The assurance from the COAS signals a renewed commitment to security operations in Nigeria, aimed at ensuring peace and stability across the nation’s diverse regions.
