Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Government (RSG) has reaffirmed its partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) through the commissioning of two blocks of 12 x 2-bedroom accommodation for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at the NAF Base, Port Harcourt.

The milestone event, held on December 9, 2024, underscores the commitment of Governor Siminialaye Fubara’s administration to bolstering the welfare and operational readiness of security agencies in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fubara lauded the NAF’s critical role in ensuring peace and security, which he identified as a foundation for development in Rivers State. He described the project as a gesture of appreciation for the NAF’s contributions and reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the welfare and capacity of security personnel.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, praised the Rivers State Government for prioritizing the welfare of military personnel. He noted that the new accommodations align with his Command Philosophy of fostering a highly motivated force through improved welfare and infrastructure.

Describing the project as a “symbol of synergy” between the NAF and the Rivers Government, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted its importance in boosting morale and operational efficiency. He also acknowledged the state’s long-standing support for NAF operations, particularly anti-bunkering air missions, which have significantly enhanced security and economic stability in the region.

The CAS further expressed the NAF’s unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose support has led to advancements in fleet revitalization. During his visit to Port Harcourt, he also inspected the operational readiness of the 115 Special Operations Group (SOG) and unveiled plans to induct 38 new aircraft in 2025, aimed at strengthening security efforts nationwide.

The housing project exemplifies the power of civil-military collaboration, reflecting shared efforts to advance security, welfare, and development in Rivers State.
