The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to remain focused and steadfast as they intensify efforts to tackle insecurity in the North-West.
The Army Chief made the call on Thursday during his first operational tour of the theatre headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State.
In his address, Lieutenant General Shaibu praised the troops for their courage, resilience and continued sacrifices despite the demanding nature of the ongoing operations. He assured them that the Nigerian Army leadership is working to resolve all operational and welfare-related concerns affecting frontline personnel.

Shaibu said he had been thoroughly briefed by the Theatre Commander on the prevailing security situation and the challenges confronting troops in the field. He added that issues raised by personnel from both the land and air components—along with observations from representatives of the Nigerian Navy and Air Force—are already being handled with priority.
The COAS reaffirmed the commitment of the Army to improving troop welfare, stressing that proper motivation, adequate equipment and robust support systems are essential for the success of the mission.
He urged personnel to maintain professionalism and uphold the values of the Nigerian Armed Forces, noting that their efforts continue to restore a sense of normalcy in many communities affected by insecurity.
“These difficult moments will pass. Stay determined and focused. Your dedication is appreciated by Nigerians,” he said.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also commended the strong inter-service collaboration in the theatre and reiterated that the military high command remains dedicated to boosting operational efficiency and addressing the needs of troops in the field.
