The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, has commended the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information for its sustained institutional growth and commitment to professional development since its establishment in 2010.
Anele gave the commendation during the inauguration of the Second Quarter Courses for 2026 held at the Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, located within the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

The event, which marked another milestone in the school’s mandate, was aimed at enhancing communication and information management capabilities among personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
In her address, Anele highlighted the strategic relevance of the newly introduced courses, noting that they are tailored to address emerging challenges in modern security environments. She explained that the programmes incorporate contemporary approaches to digital warfare and crisis communication, equipping participants with the skills required to navigate an increasingly complex information landscape.

According to her, the rise of digital and social media platforms has significantly transformed how military operations are perceived and communicated to the public, making effective communication a critical component of national security.
She further observed that the democratisation of information has shifted public discourse away from traditional gatekeepers, thereby placing greater responsibility on military communicators. She urged participants, particularly those enrolled in the Advanced Public Relations Course, to approach their training with diligence and professionalism.
Anele stressed that accurate, timely, and strategic communication serves as a force multiplier in modern military operations, especially in efforts to combat terrorism and address broader security challenges.
In his welcome remarks, the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lt. Col. Shuaib Umar, called on students to demonstrate discipline and commitment throughout the training period. He reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards.
Umar also commended Anele for her leadership and support, which he said have contributed significantly to the school’s ability to deliver on its mandate. He further praised the institution’s staff for their dedication to providing quality training that prepares participants for operational and professional responsibilities.
Earlier, the Acting Chief Instructor, Major Nureni Alimi, provided an overview of the course structure, noting that the curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical application to ensure comprehensive learning.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of the commandant, particularly in his efforts to continuously update the curriculum with relevant content aimed at enhancing student performance and operational readiness.
Participants were also reminded of the need to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army throughout their training.
The ceremony featured a series of activities, including the official inauguration of the courses, presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour, a symbolic tree planting exercise, and group photograph sessions.
The event underscored NASPRI’s role in advancing military communication and information management in line with the mission of the Directorate of Army Public Relations.
