Navy Inaugurates Tantita-Donated Projects in Warri, Celebrates 70th Anniversary with School Outreach
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim, has inaugurated several projects donated by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) to the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta in Warri, Delta State.
The inauguration formed part of activities marking the 70th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Navy.
The projects commissioned include the remodelled Fleet Support Group, Central Administrative Block, Senior Rates 30 x 1 Self-Contain Transit Accommodation, Executive Officer’s Instructional Accommodation, volleyball and lawn tennis courts, as well as car parks.
The facilities were constructed and furnished by Tantita Security Services as part of its corporate social responsibility support to the Nigerian Navy.
Speaking during the inauguration, Rear Admiral Ibrahim, who represented the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, said the projects were designed to improve operational readiness, personnel welfare and strategic collaboration.
He commended Tantita Security Services for sponsoring the projects, noting that the improved welfare facilities would boost the morale of officers and ratings.
According to him, the sports facilities and renovated infrastructure would enhance teamwork, fitness and create a better working environment for personnel.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim said the Chief of Naval Staff would have personally attended the inauguration but for other engagements related to the Navy’s 70th anniversary celebrations in Abuja.
He described the projects as a product of the strong partnership between the Nigerian Navy and private institutions.
“This shows the result of good working relationship. The cooperation between the Armed Forces and private security companies is what we are witnessing today with these massive projects executed by Tantita,” he said.
Reacting to questions on alleged frosty relations between the Navy and Tantita, the FOC dismissed such claims, insisting that both organisations have maintained cordial ties.
“There has never been any frosty relationship. We have had a very cordial relationship. Along the line, there may have been minor issues, but we resolved them and continued to work together,” he stated.

He added that the partnership between Tantita and the Nigerian Navy has contributed significantly to the protection of Nigeria’s crude oil assets and increased oil production.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim also praised the Commander of NNS Delta and the project team for delivering quality projects that have transformed the base.
Speaking on behalf of Tantita Security Services, the Executive Director of Operations and Technical Services, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Navy.
He said the projects were aimed at improving the comfort and welfare of naval personnel in recognition of their sacrifices in protecting the nation.
“These are people who have signed up to exchange their lives for our safety. This is the least we can do to support them,” he said.
Earlier, the Commander of NNS Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu, expressed appreciation to Tantita for sponsoring the projects, describing the intervention as a major boost to personnel welfare and operational efficiency.
He noted that the facilities, including accommodation, sports courts and car parks, would improve the living and working conditions of officers and ratings.
Meanwhile, as part of activities commemorating the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary, NNS Delta donated educational materials to pupils of Ogiame Primary School in Warri.
Speaking during the outreach programme, Commodore Tasiu said the initiative reflected the Navy’s commitment to nation-building through civil-military cooperation.
He stressed the importance of education to Nigeria’s future development and security, adding that the Navy’s “Educational Rhapsody” initiative was designed to motivate students and support learning.
The naval commander also commended teachers, parents and community leaders for their contributions toward shaping the younger generation, while reaffirming the Navy’s commitment to educational and social development.
