Troops rescue kidnap victims in Katsina as hunt for terrorists leader continues

KATSINA — Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnap victims during ongoing military operations targeting a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and his gang in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government disclosed this in a statement, saying the victims were rescued during sustained operations in areas where the criminal group is believed to be operating.

The rescued victims were identified as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50.

According to the government, medical personnel immediately attended to the victims after their rescue, treating them for gunshot wounds sustained while in captivity.

The government also recalled that the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar had earlier been rescued in a related operation. It noted that the four victims were previously seen in a photograph alongside the late retired general.

Commending the operation, the Katsina State Government praised the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for what it described as their bravery, professionalism and commitment in combating banditry and kidnapping across the state.

“Their relentless efforts continue to yield positive results in the fight against banditry and kidnapping across the state,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs assured residents that security operatives remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other suspected criminal elements.

It added that ongoing military operations would continue until those responsible for attacks and kidnappings across the state are apprehended and brought to justice.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, pledging continued collaboration with security agencies to ensure that criminal groups have no safe haven anywhere in Katsina State.
