The Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Military are about now meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari to find a way out of the lingering and degenerating security situation in the country.
In attendance at the meeting were key government functionary, including the Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Magashi, the National Security Adviser Major General Babagana Munguno and other key functionaries of the security architecture in the country.
The Service Chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oludayo Amao were seening arriving the Aso Rock Villa, the venue of the meeting as the time of the report.
Also in attendance were the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema.
Although the agenda of the meeting is not known as at press time, it is expected that the meeting would review the current security situation in the country and proffer solutions.
The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Samuel Adebayo, were also in attendance.
