The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA has successfully conducted a raid on the IPOB/ESN B44 Camp in Imo State as part of its ongoing mission to eradicate criminal activities in the South East region of Nigeria.
The operation, initiated on March 28, 2024, targeted the Monday Oluchi Ogu Camp, also known as B44 Camp, situated on the border of Njaba River, spanning Awo-Omama Community in Oru East Local Government Area and Ezoiha community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.
During the clearance operation, the troops engaged with armed criminals suspected to be affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Despite encountering resistance, the Joint Task Force’s superior firepower compelled the terrorists to retreat into nearby bushes, leaving behind several individuals with injuries and gunshot wounds.
Furthermore, the troops uncovered disturbing evidence of atrocities committed by the criminals, including the discovery of innocent individuals who had been brutally murdered and buried in shallow graves within the camp. In adherence to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to civil-military cooperation, forensic analysis will be conducted on the exhumed corpses to facilitate appropriate burial arrangements.
Various items were seized during the raid, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), an RPG bomb, a motorcycle, handheld radios, local jewelry, an ATM card, SIM cards, voter cards, stolen vehicle plate numbers, and a toolbox.
Maj Gen HT DADA, the Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, reassured citizens of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering dedication to preserving peace and stability in the region.
