Kaduna – The Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC), Kaduna, has reinforced the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to aviation safety and operational excellence with the successful completion of Cabin Crew Refresher Course 2/2026.
The five-day training programme, which commenced on June 1, 2026, was designed to enhance the proficiency of cabin crew personnel in critical areas including cabin safety, emergency procedures, passenger care, aviation security and in-flight service delivery.
The course aligns with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which places emphasis on standardized training and mission-focused capability development as key drivers of operational effectiveness across the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
Speaking during the inauguration of the programme, the Deputy Commandant and Head of Training, Group Captain U.S. Maibuhu, who represented the Commandant, underscored the importance of safety in air operations. He urged participants to demonstrate discipline, professionalism and unwavering commitment throughout the training period.
According to him, aviation safety remains the foundation of successful air operations and requires continuous training to maintain the highest professional standards.
During the course, participants engaged in a series of intensive theoretical and practical exercises aimed at sharpening their operational skills. The training featured full-scale cabin simulator exercises and live emergency drills covering emergency evacuation procedures, medical response, crew resource management, aviation security, regulatory compliance and passenger service.
Conducted under the theme, “When Seconds Count,” the refresher programme was tailored to strengthen the ability of cabin crew personnel to respond effectively and confidently to emergencies and other demanding operational situations.
The course concluded on June 5, 2026, with the graduation of participants, marking another milestone in ATSTC Kaduna’s efforts to promote aviation safety and operational readiness within the Nigerian Air Force.
Addressing the graduates at the closing ceremony, the Commandant of the Centre, Air Vice Marshal N.B. Folaji, commended the participants for their resilience, discipline and dedication throughout the training.
He noted that refresher training remains essential for sustaining operational readiness and ensuring that aircrew personnel are adequately prepared to respond swiftly and professionally during emergencies.
“Continuous training is critical to maintaining high safety standards and enhancing the effectiveness of air operations,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating participants, Sergeant Ojigi A.C. expressed gratitude to the management and instructors of the training centre for the opportunity to participate in the programme.
