NAF Arms Group Commander Visits Army Ammunition Depot, Seeks Helipad Reactivation

The Commander, 233 Small Arms and Light Weapons Group, Nigerian Air Force Base Kaduna, Group Captain EE Osuwa, has visited the Army Central Ammunition Depot Agunu (ACADA) to strengthen inter-Service cooperation in the management and accountability of arms and ammunition.

Osuwa, who led a delegation of officers to the Depot, was received by the Commander ACADA, Brigadier General EC Ineme, alongside senior officers of the establishment.

In his welcome remarks, Ineme expressed delight at the visit, describing it as an important step towards enhancing cooperation between the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force in the safe and effective management of ammunition and explosives.

During the interaction, Osuwa disclosed that the 233 Small Arms and Light Weapons Group was recently established to oversee the management of small arms and ammunition belonging to the Nigerian Air Force.

He said discussions during the visit focused on the proposed deployment of personnel from the Group to ACADA to facilitate the effective administration, accountability and management of the Nigerian Air Force ammunition storehouse located within the Depot.

The development is expected to strengthen coordination between the two Services while ensuring effective oversight of NAF ammunition assets domiciled at the Army facility.

The visiting delegation was subsequently taken on a guided tour of selected facilities within ACADA, where the officers inspected key areas and discussed issues relating to operational efficiency and logistics.

During the tour, Osuwa emphasised the need to reactivate the helipad at the Depot, noting that its restoration would enhance accessibility, operational mobility and emergency response capabilities.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the two commanders to exchange views on areas of mutual operational interest and identify areas where closer collaboration could improve ammunition management.

Both commanders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-Service cooperation, particularly in the areas of ammunition accountability, logistics and operational support.
