NAF graduates first batch of DSA UAV operators in Kaduna

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated the first batch of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators trained for the Defence Space Administration (DSA) at the 401 Flying Training School (FTS), Kaduna.

The training marks another step in the growing collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and other security and defence agencies in developing specialised personnel for emerging operational requirements.

The graduation of the DSA personnel also highlights the NAF’s role in supporting capacity building beyond its core aviation operations by providing specialised training to personnel of sister agencies.

UAVs have become increasingly important in modern security operations, providing surveillance, intelligence gathering and situational awareness capabilities while reducing the risks associated with conventional manned aerial missions.

The training of DSA personnel by the NAF is therefore expected to strengthen the administration’s capacity to effectively operate and deploy UAV systems in support of national security and defence objectives.

The 401 FTS, one of the NAF’s key training establishments, has continued to play an important role in developing specialised aviation personnel and strengthening Nigeria’s indigenous capacity in military aviation.

The initiative also underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing the country’s evolving security challenges, particularly through the development and effective deployment of modern technologies.

The graduation of the first batch of DSA UAV operators is expected to further enhance cooperation between the NAF and DSA in the use of unmanned aerial systems for national security operations.
