NAF Graduates Intelligence Personnel to Boost Counter-Terrorism Operations

The Nigerian Air Force has intensified efforts to strengthen its intelligence-driven operational capabilities with the graduation of participants of the Basic Intelligence Course 34/2026 at the Nigerian Air Force School of Air Intelligence in Makurdi.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony on Friday, the Director of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal, Emmanuel Ukpong, who represented the Chief of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba, described the event as a major step in producing highly skilled intelligence personnel capable of supporting national security operations.

He noted that Nigeria’s evolving security environment requires intelligence operatives who are well trained, mission-oriented, and equipped to support ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency campaigns.

According to him, the course focused on intelligence operations, operational analysis, security support, and mission-focused capability development aimed at improving participants’ analytical, reporting, and decision-making skills.

Ukpong emphasised the importance of actionable intelligence in enhancing operational effectiveness and strategic military decision-making.

He urged the graduating personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, integrity, teamwork, and continuous self-development in line with emerging technologies and contemporary security realities.

The graduation, he said, reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff,  Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to strengthening intelligence capacity and advancing intelligence-led operations as a key component of national security.

The Nigerian Air Force stated that ongoing investment in training institutions and human capital development is enhancing the service’s mission readiness and operational effectiveness in tackling evolving security threats across the country.

According to the service, proactive and precision-driven operations supported by credible intelligence remain central to efforts aimed at restoring peace, strengthening national stability, and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic development.
