The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has commissioned a newly constructed block of six classrooms at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Abeokuta, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance educational infrastructure across naval institutions in the country.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Sunday, 5 October 2025, was performed on behalf of the CNS by the Chief of Administration, Rear Admiral Gabriel Martins Aligwe.

Speaking at the event, Rear Admiral Aligwe reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to promoting quality education and human capital development among naval personnel and their dependents. He noted that the new classroom block reflects the CNS’s vision of providing conducive learning environments and equipping students with a strong academic foundation.

“This project is part of the Nigerian Navy’s broader drive to ensure that the children of our personnel receive quality education in well-equipped, modern facilities,” Rear Admiral Aligwe said. “Education remains a key pillar in our human resource development strategy.”

Earlier, the Commandant of NNSS Abeokuta, Captain Oluwaseun Abiola Adesiyan, expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for his consistent support in upgrading infrastructure and improving educational standards across Navy schools nationwide.

“We are deeply grateful to the CNS for his continued investment in the future of our students and for creating an environment that supports both academic and moral excellence,” Captain Adesiyan said.

Also in attendance were the Director of Naval Education, Captain Chijioke Ofem Dick-Ubi, other senior naval officers, staff, and students of the school.

The event featured the formal commissioning and inspection of the new facility, marking another milestone in the Nigerian Navy’s sustained commitment to educational excellence and infrastructural development within its institutions nationwide.
