It was a display of military bravery as a Nigerian Navy personnel identified as AK Bala who was abducted by suspected kidnappers on February 24, 2021 regained his freedom after a gun duel.

According to a post by the former spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sanni Usman, the naval personnel had disarmed one of the kidnappers and used the kidnappers weapon to kill the two kidnappers before escaping.

It was learnt that the naval personnel had been in the kidnappers den for over a month, studied them and acted fast when the opportunity presented itself.
