The Director of Project Monitoring, Implementation, and Evaluation (D-PIMED), Rear Admiral JO Okosun, on Monday, 5 May 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral MG Oamen, at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.
During the visit, Rear Admiral Okosun stated that his tour was aimed at inspecting various projects implemented by the Naval Headquarters (NHQ) across the Lagos area and assessing their progress.
Responding, Rear Admiral Oamen expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, for the numerous welfare-focused projects initiated within the Western Naval Command’s area of responsibility (AOR). He noted that a majority of NHQ projects fall within the Command’s jurisdiction and are vital to enhancing operational capacity and personnel welfare.
Continuing his inspection on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, the D-PIMED visited the permanent site of Forward Operating Base (FOB) LEKKI. Projects inspected included the ongoing construction of an administrative block, 16×1 Junior Officers’ accommodation, 16×2 Senior Ratings’ quarters, 24×1 Junior Ratings’ accommodation, and a comprehensive road network.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development and improved living standards for its personnel.
