Major General Garba Abdullahi, the new Corps Commander, of the  Nigerian Army Signals, on Wednesday charged personnel of the corps to work harder to be able to achieve a more productive results in 2023.

Abdullahi spoke during a handing and taking over ceremony at the Corps headquarters in Lagos, saying, “It is a privilege to be appointed as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Signals Corps, which is a pinnacle of any officer’s career in the corps. I am not unmindful of the challenges inherent in the command responsibilities and I believe that with collective efforts, we will be able to surmount whatever challenges in the cause of our duties.”

He promised to  operate an open door policy and welcome meaningful ideas to attain the Vision of the Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya for the Nigerian Army which is to have a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria.

The new Commander sought the cooperation of officers and soldiers of the signals corps, pointing out that collectively they would surmount the challenges ahead.

Abdullahi warned that officers and soldiers should be ready to work to ensure that the standard does not go below what he met on ground.

General Abdullahi was taking over the command of the corps  from Maj.-Gen. Abiodun Owolabi at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Signals, Apapa after his deployment from the Defence Headquarters where he served as the Deputy Chief of Defence, Space Administration at Defence Space Agency.

Meanwhile, the outgoing commander, Major General Owolabi, expressed satisfaction at the successes recorded during his tenure as the Commander, Corps of Signals.

He said that his tenure witnessed a lot of infrastructure development all over the Command’s Area of Responsibility.

The outgone commander has been redeployed to Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Giri, as the Dean, Faculty of Future Casting.
