Samban Gida, Kaduna State – The Nigerian Army on Friday, March 14, 2025, paid its final respects to Late Captain Keziah Godiya Ayuba, who was laid to rest with full military honors in her hometown, Samban Gida, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

 

In a solemn ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, represented by the Commander of 1 Division Supply and Transport, Brigadier General Philip Ebuk, described Captain Ayuba as a dedicated officer whose career was marked by professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty.

Born on July 9, 1987, in Shogunle, Lagos, Captain Ayuba hailed from Jaba Local Government Area in Kaduna State. She pursued her early education at Police Children School, Ikeja, and Toamy Private College, Egbe, before obtaining a Higher National Diploma in Public Administration from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic. She was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on July 3, 2017, as a member of the Direct Short Service Course 23.

Throughout her service, Captain Ayuba held key positions, including Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport and Staff Officer Grade 3 (Information and Publication) at 81 Division Army Public Relations. She was widely respected for her leadership, discipline, and dedication.

An accomplished officer, she completed various military courses, including the Young Officers’ Course (Public Relations), Media Operations Officers’ Course, and Legal Aspects of Combatting Terrorism Course, excelling in all. She was particularly admired for her intelligence, teamwork, and mentorship, especially among female soldiers. Her service and dedication earned her the General Operations Medal.

Until her passing, Captain Ayuba remained a pillar of excellence in military public relations, known for her composure, eloquence, and professionalism. The COAS, in his tribute, described her as a vibrant officer with exceptional capabilities, stating that she would be deeply missed by her family, the Nigerian Army, and the nation.

As a final mark of respect, the military rendered a 21-gun salute, and her Next of Kin was presented with the National Flag alongside her military accoutrements.

Captain Ayuba’s legacy of service and dedication will continue to inspire the Nigerian Army and those who knew her.
