The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta has intensified its clampdown on oil theft and illegal refining activities under Operation Delta Sanity, following a surveillance-led operation at Obodo-Omadino Creek in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to a naval statement, the operation, conducted on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, was based on credible intelligence that led to the discovery and deactivation of several dugout pits and sacks containing large quantities of suspected stolen crude oil. The team also recovered a wooden boat and a pumping machine used in the illicit operation.

The illegal site was located at Latitude 5.558328°N and Longitude 5.616693°E, officials said.

The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating crude oil theft and protecting the nation’s maritime resources, stressing that it remains undeterred in the fight against economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
