Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Navy has inaugurated its first-ever precision agriculture technology farm, marking a strategic move to support national food security and drive agricultural innovation.
The farm will be operated under the newly launched Admiralty Integrated Farm Limited (ADIFAL), which was formally commissioned on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Admiralty Event Centre in Asokoro, Abuja.
The commissioning ceremony also featured the unveiling of the ADIFAL company logo and was attended by top military officials, government representatives, and stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, was the Chief of Policy and Plans (CPPLANS), Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, who delivered the CNS’s goodwill message. In his address, Rear Admiral Dewu commended ADIFAL for achieving the milestone project and reiterated the Navy’s commitment to national priorities, particularly President Bola Tinubu’s directive mandating military involvement in agricultural development.
“The Nigerian Navy remains fully aligned with national objectives, and this project reflects our resolve to support both food security and national security,” Dewu said.
He stressed the importance of integrating modern technology into farming practices, especially in the face of rising insecurity and economic challenges. Dewu urged ADIFAL to sustain momentum through enhanced productivity, strategic partnerships, and the deployment of cutting-edge agricultural solutions.
In his remarks, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ADIFAL, Rear Admiral Julius Nwagu (rtd), described the project as a direct response to the presidential mandate encouraging the armed forces to actively support agricultural advancement.
“ADIFAL is built on a vision of harnessing technology to revolutionize agricultural practices. Our system employs Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to deliver real-time data for precision farming,” Nwagu stated.
He added that the technology-driven approach would not only improve yields but also enhance resource management and environmental sustainability across the Navy’s agricultural programs.
The commissioning of the ADIFAL Coordination Centre is expected to serve as a model for future military-led agricultural ventures across the country. The initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader agenda to diversify the economy and strengthen food production through innovation and cross-sector collaboration.
With ADIFAL now operational, the Nigerian Navy has joined other branches of the military in redefining the role of the armed forces in non-combat national development efforts.
