In a shocking development, two Nigerian Army personnel have been caught allegedly stealing armoured cable laid in the newly commissioned Dangote Refinery.
The two soldiers identified as Corporal Innocent Joseph and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani were allegedly apprehended and handed over to the force doing thing untoward around the refinery expected to ease the problem petroleum products for Nigerians.
Swiftly, Nigerian Army has eased them out of the service of the force following an orderly room trialĀ where they were found guilty of abandoning their duty post and unauthorized possession of armored cables on April 14.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the soldiers underwent a thorough investigation in collaboration with the refinery management. They were subsequently charged for Failure to Perform Military Duties and Other Civil Offences, as per the Armed Forces Act CAP A20.
During the trial, evidence was presented, and the soldiers were given the opportunity to defend themselves. However, they were found guilty in accordance with military laws and were summarily dismissed from service with immediate effect. They have been handed over to relevant authorities for further prosecution.
