The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders from all operational theatres to step up precision air operations and deliver smarter, harder, and more decisive firepower against insurgents, terrorists, and other criminal elements threatening national security.

A stateemnt from th force’s spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame quoted Air Marshal Aneke as giving the directive during a high-level strategic meeting with operational commanders at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The meeting, which brought together field and component commanders from across the country, was aimed at recalibrating the Force’s operational posture under the new leadership and harmonizing strategies for greater mission effectiveness.

According to the Air Force Chief, the security challenges facing the nation require agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare. “We must fly smarter and strike harder, not only to neutralize threats but also to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians. Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he said.

Air Marshal Aneke emphasized that the evolving nature of security threats necessitates closer coordination among the armed forces and other security agencies. “Our operations must be intelligence-led, coordinated, and focused. We will continue to work closely with the sister services and other security agencies to ensure a united front in the fight against terrorism and criminality,” he added.

Reiterating his commitment to personnel welfare, training, and operational efficiency, the CAS assured that the NAF under his leadership would prioritize innovation and technology to enhance mission outcomes. “Every airman and airwoman has a role to play in achieving our collective vision. I will ensure you are equipped, trained, and motivated to deliver results,” he pledged.

He further affirmed that the Air Force would remain steadfast in supporting the Federal Government’s vision for peace and security while upholding professionalism and accountability in all operations. “We will apply decisive force against those who threaten our nation — with discipline, humanity, and professionalism. The Nigerian people, government, and international partners expect nothing less from us,” he stated.

Air Marshal Aneke urged commanders to translate strategy into decisive action and ensure that every sortie has a tangible impact on the ground. “The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” he declared.

The meeting reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration, boosting the morale of personnel, and reinforcing international confidence in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.
