The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has received a high-level delegation led by a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (rtd.), for discussions on strengthening healthcare delivery and infrastructure in the Nigerian Army.

Shaibu received the delegation on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, where they explored opportunities for strategic collaboration and sustainable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives to modernise healthcare facilities across the Nigerian Army.

The delegation comprised representatives of the private sector and international diplomatic community.

Representing Honey Star Resources Limited were its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Hamisu Tukur Buratai, and Deputy Managing Director, Barrister Abduljabbar Kolo.

The delegation also included representatives of M&P, led by Ambassador Achraf Ibrahim, a former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, as well as Mr. Ahmed Tarek, who represented Elevate Egypt.

The League of African Ambassadors was represented by its President, Ambassador Nwanne Omihe, alongside Ambassador Ijeoma.

Discussions at the meeting focused on developing a sustainable PPP framework for the rehabilitation, expansion and modernisation of Nigerian Army healthcare facilities.

Potential areas of collaboration identified during the engagement include the construction and upgrading of hospitals, provision of modern medical equipment, pharmaceutical support and deployment of digital health solutions across Army formations and establishments.

The proposed partnership is expected to improve the capacity and accessibility of military healthcare facilities while strengthening their resilience in meeting the healthcare needs of Nigerian Army personnel and their families.

The initiative is also expected to leverage private-sector expertise, investment and technology to complement the Army’s efforts to improve healthcare services and infrastructure.

The engagement underscores the Nigerian Army’s growing emphasis on strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen welfare and improve the overall operational effectiveness of its personnel.
