The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has concluded a three-day operational visit to formations and units under the 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), where he commissioned several projects and addressed troops on ongoing operations.During the visit, the COAS commissioned the Headquarters 6 Division Office Complex Extension and the Python Harmony Centre at Port Harcourt Barracks. He also unveiled projects executed by the 6 Division Garrison, including two newly constructed 10-family Corporal and Below Quarters (CBQs), seven remodeled CBQs, a remodeled Cantonment Office, and a Petroleum Oil Lubricant Point. At 29 Battalion, the remodeled Quarter Guard and 10 CBQs were also commissioned.

In Bayelsa State, General Oluyede inaugurated the newly built 16 Brigade Annex Complex, constructed under the supervision of Brigade Commander Brigadier General Oluremi Obolo. He also commissioned an electrification project executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), a Garrison House built by Lieutenant Colonel Sheriff Kaigama, the remodeled 5 Battalion Quarter Guard, and the renovated residence of the Commanding Officer, 343 Artillery Regiment. The Army Chief further laid the foundation for 20 units of two-bedroom flats for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at Elele Barracks and inspected the renovated Medical Reception Station at Wellington and Ibagwa Barracks in Akwa Ibom State.

As part of his strategic engagements, the COAS paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, at Government House, Uyo. He commended the state for its support to the Nigerian Army, noting that Akwa Ibom’s partnership with the military has contributed to the peace enjoyed in the state.

In response, Governor Eno praised the Army for its role in maintaining peace and security, particularly the collaboration with 2 Brigade under Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi. He assured the COAS of continuous government support to enhance security in the state.

General Oluyede also addressed troops at 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt, and 6 Battalion Parade Ground, Abak, Akwa Ibom. He lauded their resilience in anti-oil theft and pipeline protection operations, assuring them that their welfare remains a priority under his “soldier-first” policy.
