Abuja, 2 October 2024 – The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, held a strategic meeting with Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ryan Howry, the newly appointed Chief of the  Office of Security Cooperation (OSC) at the U.S. Embassy, to discuss the future maintenance and operational sustainability of the A-29 Super Tucano (ST) aircraft.

The meeting, which took place at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), focused on ensuring continuity as the current maintenance contract for the A-29 ST nears its conclusion later this year. Air Marshal Abubakar stressed the importance of a seamless transition to ensure the aircraft’s continued operational effectiveness within the NAF.

Lt Col Howry reaffirmed the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to supporting the NAF, emphasizing that the OSC will provide full assistance to maintain the A-29 ST’s critical role in Nigerian Air Force missions.

In attendance were Deputy Chief of OSC, Lt Col Daniel Purvis, and senior officials from the NAF, including several Branch Chiefs and Directors.
