The Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC), Abuja, has conducted a live firing exercise at the Kwernev Air Range in Makurdi for participants of the Advanced Air-to-Ground Integration Course and the Joint Fires Observers Course.
The exercise was designed to strengthen coordination between Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and Joint Fires Observers (JFOs) through a series of realistic targeting scenarios. It aimed to enhance communication and precision in close air support missions, ensuring greater synergy between air and land components of the Armed Forces.

According to the AWDC, the training was also geared toward reducing the risk of fratricide, collateral damage, and civilian harm during combat operations.
The Centre noted that the initiative reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unwavering commitment to protecting lives while delivering smart, effective, and accountable airpower.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the NAF to improve the operational efficiency and joint effectiveness of its personnel in support of national security objectives.
