The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 81 Division Chapter, has conducted a humanitarian outreach to widows, orphans, and families of fallen military personnel, as part of activities marking the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, the two-day outreach was held from July 3 to 4 and targeted vulnerable families within the Division’s Area of Responsibility, covering Lagos and Ogun States.
Led by the NAOWA Chairperson, Mrs. Zainab Mijinyawa, the initiative provided food items and other relief materials to widows of deceased officers and children in orphanages, with the aim of easing their burden and showing solidarity during the Army’s anniversary.
“The aim of the initiative is to provide support and alleviate the hardships faced by widows of fallen heroes and children in orphanages within Lagos and Ogun States,” Yahaya stated.
The beneficiaries, who included dependents of soldiers lost in the line of duty, expressed heartfelt gratitude to NAOWA for the thoughtful gesture, which they described as a lifeline during difficult times.
Yahaya noted that the outreach highlighted NAOWA’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of soldiers’ families, while also reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s dedication to the well-being of its personnel and surrounding communities.
“The outreach was impactful and memorable, and it underscored the Nigerian Army’s and NAOWA’s dedication to the welfare of its personnel, even beyond the call of duty,” he added.
The annual Nigerian Army Day Celebration commemorates the formation and contributions of the Nigerian Army to national security, unity, and development, while also honouring the sacrifices of those who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.
