In line with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke’s command philosophy of prioritising personnel welfare and well-being as a force multiplier for operational effectiveness, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained a series of deliberate end-of-year personnel engagements across its formations and operational units.
Anchored on the “Welfare for Enhanced Warfare” policy thrust, the engagements were aimed at recognising the sacrifices of officers, airmen, airwomen and their families, while reinforcing morale, cohesion and fighting spirit essential for mission success.

As part of the activities, personnel of the NAF Special Operations Command participated in structured end-of-year programmes across its Headquarters and units. These included officers’ seat-outs, end-of-year gatherings for officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff, as well as a Children’s Christmas Party.
Leadership engagement featured prominently during the events, with the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, interacting extensively with personnel. His engagements emphasised mentorship, inclusivity and strong command presence, while encouraging professionalism and unity across the Command.
Similar welfare-focused activities were also conducted at the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, including at the 213 Forward Operating Base. Personnel at the locations reflected on sustained air operations, strengthened teamwork and renewed their commitment to professionalism and operational excellence in a high-tempo operational environment.

At the 261 Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital, an award ceremony was organised to recognise outstanding personnel, decorate newly promoted Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and formally bid farewell to two Master Warrant Officers who retired after 35 years of meritorious service.
A major highlight of the end-of-year engagements was the Children’s Christmas Party held at NAF Base Bauchi. The event featured games, music, dance and prize presentations, creating a festive atmosphere for families and further underscoring the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependants.

The series of engagements reaffirmed the NAF leadership’s resolve to sustain welfare-driven initiatives as a critical pillar for morale, cohesion and enhanced operational effectiveness across all theatres of operation
