The Chief of Naval Staff , Nigerian Navy, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, has called on the military to tackle the complexity of modern security challenges with Artificial Intelligence.
He Admiral Ogalla also urged the military to fully exploit the benefits of AI while also highlighting the importance of safeguarding information and materials on the internet.
He spoke during the 2nd Quarters 2024 Defence Transformation Seminar which was hosted by the Naval Headquarters in Abuja with the “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence as a Transformative Tool for Contemporary Military Operations.”
Guest speakers at the seminar, Rear Admiral IB Yusuf (rtd) and Col OK Ogbole (rtd), called on the Armed Forces to demonstrate greater commitment to integrating AI into military operations. They stressed the need for creating an enabling environment through the training of personnel and outlined the numerous advantages of AI over conventional operational methods.

The event was attended by several dignitaries from various defence agencies, underscoring the significance of AI in enhancing military capabilities and addressing contemporary security issues.
