Lagos, Nigeria (May 16, 2024) – Rear Admiral PC Nwatu, Navy Secretary (NAVSEC) at Naval Headquarters, led a delegation to Lagos as part of the second quarter NAVSEC annual visit to various Commands and establishments of the Nigerian Navy (NN). The delegation included the Commander Command Naval Drafting and three staff officers from the NAVSEC Branch.

During the visit, a series of lectures were delivered to enhance understanding and address key issues within the Navy. The topics covered included:

Activities of the NAVSEC Branch
The Mother Base Concept
Gender-Based Issues
Point-Based Value Advancement Module


Following the lectures, an interactive session was held, providing personnel with the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to discussions on the presented topics and other service-related issues.

The event saw the attendance of high-ranking officials, including Rear Admiral MB Hassan, Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command; the Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT; the Commandant of NNS QUORRA; and other senior officers. Officers and ratings serving in the Lagos area were also present.

Rear Admiral Nwatu emphasized the importance of these visits in fostering communication and addressing the concerns of naval personnel. “This annual visit is crucial for understanding the needs and challenges faced by our Commands and ensuring that we are all aligned in our mission and objectives,” he stated.

The sessions aimed to improve operational effectiveness and morale within the Nigerian Navy, ensuring that all personnel are well-informed and supported in their duties.
