In a successful counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian Army troops deployed in Kaduna state have ambushed and killed six terrorists, recovering arms and other logistics in the process.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorist elements in the Giwa and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas (LGA), the troops swiftly mobilized to intercept the threat.
The ambush was staged at Kidandan Junction in Giwa LGA, where the troops awaited and made contact with the terrorists. Following a fierce firefight, the terrorists fled, abandoning a pistol. Continuing their mission, the troops proceeded to clear Basurfe and Yuna villages. During this phase, they recovered a motorbike left behind by the escaping terrorists, who had crossed a nearby river valley.
Determined to neutralize the threat, the troops tracked the terrorists to Katoge village, a known terrorist enclave and crossing point. There, they eliminated a scout, recovering a semi-automatic pump-action rifle. The operation culminated in Saulawa village in Birnin Gwari LGA, where the troops encountered several terrorists on motorbikes. A ferocious exchange of fire ensued, with the troops overwhelming the terrorists with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of five more terrorists.
The engagement led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a G3 rifle, and nine motorbikes. These successful operations highlight the troops’ determination and effectiveness in mitigating terrorist activities in the troubled areas.
The Nigerian Army’s recent actions demonstrate their commitment to restoring peace and security in Kaduna state, significantly disrupting terrorist activities and enhancing the safety of the local communities.
