Flying Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023. The accolade was presented at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Nigerian Air Force announced that Sangokoya, who attended the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22 from March to September 2023, was recognized as the Best International Cadet in his cohort.

The International Sword of Honour is awarded annually to the most outstanding international cadet among graduates from up to eight courses at RAFCC. The award was presented by Prince William, the Prince of Wales, on behalf of King Charles III during a ceremony held on September 12, 2024.

In response to the recognition, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff, congratulated Sangokoya for his exemplary performance. He highlighted the significance of the award as a reflection of Sangokoya’s dedication and hard work. Air Marshal Abubakar also praised Sangokoya’s family for their support, which he noted was crucial to his success. He expressed pride in the achievement, noting its positive impact on the Nigerian Air Force and the nation.

This achievement further underscores the growing prominence of the Nigerian Air Force on the international stage.
