Abuja, Nigeria (June 11, 2024) — In a bid to boost morale, ensure discipline, and uphold vital military traditions, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, presented new pickup vehicles to nine Air Warrant Officers (AWOs) during a vibrant ceremony held at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Asokoro, Abuja, earlier today.
In his address, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the critical role of human resources in any organization, highlighting that the welfare and motivation of personnel are key to achieving the NAF’s goals and aspirations.
“AWOs are a selected breed of distinguished Senior Non-Commissioned Officers on whom the Service places the onerous task of maintaining regimentation and discipline as well as upholding military ethics and traditions among airmen/airwomen across the NAF,” he stated.
He praised the AWOs for their selfless service and exemplary lifestyles, which serve as a model for their subordinates and are essential for the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service.
The presentation of the vehicles was a gesture to honor the AWOs for their instrumental role in the successes of the NAF. Air Marshal Abubakar encouraged the AWOs to continue advocating for the needs of their subordinates to help shape impactful policy decisions.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, AWO Menone Perefhibo, the most senior recipient, thanked the CAS and acknowledged that the presentation of the vehicles demonstrated the CAS’s commitment to enhancing personnel welfare. He noted that the leadership and command philosophy of the CAS have fostered a conducive environment for AWOs to thrive and expressed their collective gratitude for his unwavering support.
In addition to the vehicle presentation, Air Marshal Abubakar commissioned a garden and park at NAF Base, Asokoro, along with a new Sewage Treatment Plant. The plant, which comprises six sewage treatment plants and six lift stations, was installed to ensure a clean and healthy living environment for NAF personnel and their families, aligning with the CAS’s focus on welfare and infrastructural renewal.
During the commissioning, the CAS thanked the NAF Investment Limited Group of Companies, NAF Housing and Construction Company, and other project partners for their contributions. He urged residents to use the system responsibly and report any suspicious activities to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure.
These initiatives underscore Air Marshal Abubakar’s dedication to enhancing the welfare and operational effectiveness of NAF personnel through targeted investments in both human and physical capital. The ceremony was attended by Branch Chiefs, Directors, and other senior officers from HQ NAF, as well as the Managing Director of BIOTECH, Mr. Aena Talabi, and other BIOTECH staff members.
