Jos, Plateau State – Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, operating under the mandate of Operation WUTAN DAJI, have neutralised suspected terrorists and dismantled criminal hideouts during coordinated clearance operations in parts of Plateau State.
The operations, conducted on April 4, 2026, targeted insurgent enclaves across Babangida, Adua and Bokayi villages within the Dutsen Zaki forest in Wase Local Government Area. Troops, working alongside local vigilantes, engaged armed suspects in a gun battle along the Babangida–Adua road.
A statement by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh said two suspected terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.
In a related operation on April 5, 2026, troops deployed to Namu District in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area intercepted four suspected terrorists following credible intelligence on their movement. The suspects were found in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
However, during a follow-up operation to locate their hideout, troops came under heavy fire from other members of the group. In the ensuing exchange, three of the apprehended suspects were killed by gunfire from their fleeing associates while attempting to escape.
Meanwhile, in Shendam Local Government Area, troops in collaboration with local residents arrested a suspected kidnapper at Gidan Mangoro village. The suspect is believed to be linked to a kidnapping incident reported on April 3, 2026, and is currently in custody for further investigation.
The military said the operations reflect ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and restore peace in Plateau State, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
